( he's never been afraid to operate under the assumption that flattery has a chance of getting him anywhere and everywhere he wants to be β but the thing of it is that with rex, anything that comes out of his mouth by now is going to be genuine. even if he has a tendency to say things just for the sake of getting a reaction out of him, riling him up, that doesn't necessarily take away from the sincerity of it.
and anyone that had met him before he'd shown up here would have never thought to accuse him of being sincere.
